This practical and direct initiative seeks to bring the knowledge of clean energies, such as solar, wind and biomass, through STEAM methodologies. Its objective is to generate interest and understanding of the positive impact that these energies can have on their communities, preparing participants to face the challenges of the future and explore employment and entrepreneurship options in the sustainable energy sector.

Course Characteristics

The Siemens Foundation course, implemented through the STEAM Mobile Classroom, uses a practical, problem-based methodology aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to raise awareness of renewable energy among young people in local communities. The activities are adapted to the reality of each territory, promoting local ownership and strengthening critical and creative skills through interactive workshops. Students develop skills to face future challenges, connecting learning with practical and sustainable solutions for their environments.

What will participants learn?​

Participants will learn to identify and understand natural phenomena and real challenges in their environments through problem-based learning (PBL). The course integrates the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into its content, promoting a deep understanding of sustainability and the transition to clean energy. In addition, participants will strengthen their skills in science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics (STEAM), acquiring knowledge that will enable them to address future challenges in innovative and applicable ways.

Who is it intended for?

The course is aimed primarily at young people and students between the ages of 14 and 28, focusing on specific communities and municipalities such as Cartagena, Barranquilla, Santa Marta, Medellin and San Vicente de Ferrer. This demographic group is considered key to leading the change towards a more sustainable future, and the course seeks to awaken their interest in the knowledge and applications of renewable energies in their local contexts.

Skills that participants can acquire:

Participants will learn to apply STEAM methodologies based on active learning and problem solving, using their local environments and real challenges as a context to develop practical solutions. In addition, they will acquire skills in critical thinking, creativity and collaboration to address issues of energy transition and sustainability, linked to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through workshops and interactive activities, students will also strengthen their capacities in technology and applied science, preparing them to face future challenges in their communities and work contexts.

This course is divided in 4 modules​

Module 1 - Computational Thinking and STEAM

Promotes problem-solving and critical thinking skills through activities based on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) methodology, allowing participants to identify and analyze natural phenomena and real problems in their environment.

Module 2 - Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

It integrates the SDGs into the content, encouraging students to connect learning to global issues and position themselves as agents of positive change in their communities.

Module 3 - Energy Transition

It presents the basics of the energy transition and how renewable energies contribute to a sustainable future, focusing on technologies such as solar, wind and biomass.

Module 4 - Ecological Restoration

Focused on conservation and ecosystem restoration practices, training participants in the importance of protecting the environment and promoting sustainability at the local level.
